Guitar and piano teacher

Brannon

Up next in our teacher showcase series is Brannon Dodd, Winterhalter Music’s newest addition. I recently hired Brannon as a guitar and piano teacher. Brannon is new to the area, hailing from Georgia, where he studied guitar at the University of Georgia and Macon State College. He loves teaching and is thrilled to be a part of Winterhalter Music. I couldn’t be happier to have him join our team of kind, passionate, dedicated teachers! My interview with Brannon is included below.

1. Why did you decide to become a music teacher?

My teacher was such a huge influence on me that it was only a matter of time before I would try my hand at it. He was so interesting and had such a passion for the arts and life in general. It seemed like the greatest job in the world, and to me it is.

2. What is your favorite thing about teaching?

I love being a witness to the transformative process that occurs in each student while taking on music. Everyone has a special place in their heart for music and it is such a pleasure helping students make that discovery for themselves.

3. What do you hope your students will get out of taking lessons from you?

I hope every student comes away with increased self-confidence and awareness of their own creative spirit. I feel learning music sparks interests in other areas of art and science. It is a great introduction to the rewards of hard work and discovery, and it’s just plain fun!

4. What is your favorite music to play and listen to?

It depends on my mood and the situation. I love playing classical as a soloist but get me around other musicians and I can be found playing rock, jazz, Americana, etc. There’s really no limit to what I’ll listen to or play. Variety is nature’s way of keeping me interested and free from boredom.

5. What are some fun facts that people might not know about you?

My teacher’s mentor was John Sutherland who studied with Segovia, probably the most renowned classical guitarist of all time. I always thought it was cool to be a link in that chain of succession.

I hope you enjoyed learning about Brannon and reading his thoughts on music and music teaching! Leave a comment below, “like us” on facebook, and subscribe to the newsletter. You can learn more about Brannon is his bio.

I can’t wait to see many of you in just over a week at our Spring Recitals! Have a great day, and I’ll catch you next Thursday!

Sincerely,

Cassie
