Today I’m happy to introduce you to another one of Winterhalter Music’s newer teachers, Michael Sinni. Michael joined Winterhalter Music this fall as a piano, viola, and violin teacher. He is currently working on a double major in Jazz Piano and Viola Performance at the University of Maryland. In addition to teaching private lessons for the past 7 years, Michael has played in numerous orchestras and received many scholarships and awards. He’s very talented, and I’m excited to have him share his love of music with our students. My interview with Michael is below.
1. Describe your teaching style.
I tend to teach in a style that will help students become complete musicians. While I tend to teach a lot of technique, I make sure to incorporate music theory into lessons as well.
2. What is your favorite thing about teaching?
My favorite thing about teaching would have to be seeing my students succeed. It’s as much a reward for a teacher to watch a student progress from one level to another as it is for the student.
3. What do you hope your students will get out of taking lessons from you?
If I am able to create a lifelong love and appreciation of music in a student, I’ll know I’ve succeeded.
4. What is your favorite music to play and listen to?
I perform mainly classical and jazz, but I also listen to a lot of alternative rock. I appreciate the musical genius and creativity found especially in these three styles.
5. What do you like to do in your free time?
One of the things that I enjoy most in my spare time (if I have any, that is) is sports. I enjoy playing frisbee, basketball, soccer, and ping pong, and also enjoy going on hikes and bike rides. I’m also an avid baseball and football fan.
6. What are some fun facts that people might not know about you?
I can name the last 15 Super Bowl champions.
I hope you enjoyed learning about Michael! Leave a comment below telling me the most interesting fact you learned about him. You can learn even more about him in his bio.

Michael was an inspirational teacher for my son, allowing him to achieve as a Viola player and perform with the St. Cecilia’s Youth Orchestra several years ago. He’s also an amazing performer if you ever get a chance to see him in a featured performance. Glad to see he’s doing well!
Hi Michael,
Thanks for your comment! I’m glad your son did so well with Michael. I hope to get to hear him play someday! 🙂
